I am so glad that the weather seems to have taken a turn for the better, it about time. At least yu could end your ride on a good note, that's a good thing.

Happy 21st! I hope the rest of your birthday was a fun one.Maryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04068684611506771719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-891429741466165577.post-66281868018494985572011-07-29T18:53:11.754-07:002011-07-29T18:53:11.754-07:00First off, happy birthday!! And I'm glad you and Milo are both okay!

It definitely wasn't the ride you were hoping for, but it sounds like you had a pretty good ride in between the fall and trouble with him listening. And I've shed many a tear with my horses out of pure frustration... I don't think there's anything childish about releasing those emotions.

It's always interesting to see how horses do out on the trail by themselves. Back when I was working with Lilly on the trails, we went from super spooky to plodding along and she actually started listening after about the third ride. If he's used to having another horse with him for support, maybe a few more trail rides alone will help him build some confidence.

I hope you have a great birthday. :)in2paintshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15721328264615241612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-891429741466165577.post-92205937436607705002011-07-29T17:51:49.178-07:002011-07-29T17:51:49.178-07:00First: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Mmm...is there cake? ; )

Second: I'm PRETTY sure that Milo ACTUALLY experienced a similar event as MoonSox, and while you THOUGHT he was freaking out about some insignificant horse-only 'thing' in the road, in REALITY, he was SAVING YOU from an evil scary monster that YOU didn't even notice.

You see, Milo THREW himself atop you to protect you from being eatten, risking his own GORGEOUS neck to save you.

Trust me on this one; my own horse only today explained a very similar adventure we had yesterday. Apparently we humans just NEVER seem to appreciate what heros they are ; )

Here's Moon's recap, to help you understand what Milo was REALLY doing today:
http://firsthorseowner.blogspot.com/2011/07/now-few-words-from-mr-moon.htmlSand.https://www.blogger.com/profile/04371583910189754998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-891429741466165577.post-5217511719401621462011-07-29T17:39:43.542-07:002011-07-29T17:39:43.542-07:00Well, first off, Happy 21st Birthday! In fact, fence smashing tends to come to mind...I did a lot of crying that day... Anyway, I guess my point is that we all have bad days. Horses have bad days. Humans have bad days. It happens. It's incredibly frustrating when horses have off days, because it feels like a battle that you refuse to loose, but just can't win. I know the feeling perfectly. I think the important thing to remember is that EVERY horse and rider has bad days. It's not you. It's not Milo. Sometimes things don't work out quite how we want them to, but we just have to take a deep breath and look forward to the next ride, because it will be better:)

Big Hug! Glad you and Mr. Milo were okay!Marehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16127842562111344534noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-891429741466165577.post-90852470256910432202011-07-29T16:17:50.777-07:002011-07-29T16:17:50.777-07:00Very scary! Sometimes things don't go according to plan, but in the long run that doesn't really matter. (Oh, and happy birthday - 21 is so far in the rear view mirror for me that I can't remember it!)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
